MUSIC AND MEMORIES
The story behind the song
Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
Growing up in the seventies, I discovered soul, blues and rock and roll through my older brothers. They introduced me to artists like Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding and Janis Joplin. Their music was raw, honest and full of emotion. They didn’t just perform songs. They made you feel every word.
That music stayed with me.
Over the years, life gave me plenty of stories to tell. Some were beautiful, others painful. I wrote about the things I experienced, the people I met and the moments that changed me. Writing became my way of making sense of the world around me.
But there was always something missing.
I could hear the music in my head, yet I never learned to play an instrument well enough to bring those melodies to life. So the words remained on paper, sometimes for decades.
More than fifty years later, technology opened a door I never expected to find. Suddenly, the stories I had carried with me for so long could become actual songs. Not covers of someone else’s music, but something built around my own words, memories and experiences.
For the first time, I could hear what had always existed inside my head.
Music and Memories is about that journey. About the music that shaped me, the memories that never disappeared and the unexpected opportunity to give them a voice.
Writing and making music brings a certain peace to my mind. The thoughts that once kept circling finally have somewhere to go.
And after all these years, I still have stories left to tell.
Perhaps the most surprising part is that, at seventy, this musical journey has only just begun.
